Work would be done to fix a fault in the filtration system.
The council's recreation coordinator Mat Neason said swimmers may have noticed small amounts of sand on the pool floor in recent weeks.
"The pool is still being filtered satisfactorily and staff are testing it five times each day to ensure water quality accords with NSW Health regulations," Mr Neason said.
"The filtration system requires a timely install of replacement parts - it can't wait until the off-season and the job is too big to be done out-of-hours - so the day closure on 12 December is necessary."
The repairs were originally scheduled for the previous week but highway closures due to fires delayed arrival of equipment and personnel.
The pool should reopen at 6am on Friday, December 13.
Mr Neason said should something unforeseen occur during repairs requiring the pool to remain closed, pool staff would put notice signs on the centre's entry doors and update the pool's recorded telephone message - 4474 2343.
