Another imperious top-order performance from Lachlan Malcolm anchored Batemans Bay 2nd grade's imposing score of 6/218, when they demolished an understrength Ex-Servicemen's side last Saturday.

With the Bay winning the toss and batting, Malcolm scored a majestic 62 after a great opening platform between fellow young representative cricketers James Dickinson (19) and Ryan Hall (28) who put on a neat 50.
Hall took his time to familiarise himself with the bowling before shifting through the gears to plunder the attack, launching a consecutive series of fours and sixes.
The loss of Dickinson's wicket one run later brought Sam Lee to the crease. Lee (59) played a beautiful knock in a pleasing return to form, adding 92 for the third wicket with Malcolm, before being needlessly run out in a communication mix-up.
Another young representative cricketer, Sean Griffin, was also run out chasing late runs. His cameo of 25 ensured the home side would exceed 200. Griffin looked composed at the crease in what is another good sign for the club.
Taking the field, the visitors were in immediate trouble after dual strikes by both opening bowlers, Justin Rumble (2-20) and Stephen Knight (1-18), to leave Ex-Servos teetering at 2-2 inside three overs.
A third-wicket partnership of 23 runs between Luke Jones and Luke Jurancic was as good as it got for the besieged visitors. Each bowler used took a wicket in either their first or second over.
Crafty veteran Pat Griffin took the spoils, returning the miserly figures of 3-1 from just 11 deliveries to wrap up the tail.
Sam Lee (2-4) rounded off his big day out with nagging seam-up bowling. James Dickinson's leggies netted him two wickets, also.
Batemans Bay ripped through their opposition, dismissing Ex-Servos inside 17 overs for just 60 runs. A feature of the home side's performance was the catching, with all but one chance gleefully accepted.
Hall effected a sharp stumping off Pat Griffin and generally set the tone for the upbeat fielding display for the home side.
Batemans Bay now prepare for a top-of-the-table clash with North Nowra at Bernie Regan Oval. The Bay side will be looking to promote several players to cover the loss of a number of key regulars.
3rd grade: Batemans Bay went down by six runs to Sussex Inlet at Batehaven. The visitors batted first and were restricted to 117 due to good, consistent bowling by the Batemans Bay attack. All bowlers performed well with Josh Vanzetti the outstanding performer with four wickets.
Batemans Bay fell just short of the total with 111. Jason Doherty (25 not out) top scored for the Bay, but sadly ran out of partners.
4th grade: North Nowra-Cambewarra (NNC) prevailed against Batemans Bay by six runs. The contest see-sawed all day, and the result was in dispute until the last ball. NNC got off to a good start due to solid batting by Harry Wood (23) and Alex Parsons.
The Batemans Bay bowlers fought back, and in association with good fielding and catching, dismissed NNC for 104. Paul Cullen 2/11, Tyler Frawley 1/5 off five overs and Seb Giri 1/13 led the attack.
Batemans Bay started slowly with Mark Tuckwell looking very good. The catching and fielding of NNC was superb and caused a mini collapse in Batemans Bay's middle order.
A quick-fire 19 from Rob Frawley, and a spectacular 33 from Brad King took the game to within one hit of saving it.
