Fishing in Tuross River with a fur seal
My husband, Mike, and I were fishing in the Tuross River, west of Horse Island, when we spotted a fur seal in the water.

At first we thought it was a turtle in distress and went over to help.
In doing so, we had come quite close to the animal when we realised it was a seal.
It didn't seem too perturbed by us and swam around the boat for a few minutes.
We believe it was looking for something on the bottom of the river, perhaps feeding.
It was quite shallow, so we were able to see the animal diving and swimming quite clearly.
It was a wonderful few minutes watching the seal.
I think he or she was watching us too.
Let's hope he enjoyed it as much as we did.
Thanks Tuross Head - you've made our travels quite special.

Youth against domestic violence get colourful
During 2019, the Lovebites program was run in Eurobodalla High Schools.
The National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect developed the program to teach students about healthy relationships, domestic violence, sexual assault and to show how students could support their friends.
Community groups come together each year to deliver this valuable program. In 2019, students created messages against domestic violence and formed Domestic Violence Youth Voice #DVYV.
The Eurobodalla Domestic Violence Committee has received donations for these messages to be placed on posters and distributed throughout the shire.
A colour fun run will be held on Saturday, November 23, in Moruya. T-shirts will display the students' messages.
We are seeking community support for the students' wonderful achievement and ask organisations to purchase tickets to the event via Eventbrite. Proceeds will help the committee in its work. Donations and raffle prizes will be greatly appreciated.
Run, walk or stroll the 5km track and immerse yourself in the colours of the rainbow for this great cause.
There will be prizes for the fastest team, adult and child and the best-dressed team, adult and child.
Register from 9am for a 10am start at Riverside Park, Moruya.
Entry is $15-25 which includes your t-shirt.

Veterans' Health Week
Service in the Australian Defence Force is overwhelmingly good for the individual, good for the community and in the national interest.
But some people are impacted by that service and as a Government we are committed to putting veterans and their families first.
At any age good mental health is crucial to your overall health and wellbeing, and plays a key role in being able to overcome life's challenges. Mental health is everyone's business - families, friends, employers, community organisations, governments and the ex-service community.
Veterans' Health Week, held from 26 October to 3 November, recognises the importance of good mental health and raises awareness for key areas of health and wellbeing in our veteran and current serving community.
Funding has been granted to support ex-service and community organisations across Australia to host Veterans' Health Week events. Visit www.dva.gov.au/vhw
