TOMAKIN TWIST TOPS
There were 40 bowlers on the greens on a lovely sunny Sunday Morning. Welcome to Carolyn Hughes from Melbourne sister of Tricia Wheeler who played her first game of bowls and did very well, team only losing by 1. Great to have President Steven Hogan back on deck. All names for trip to Kiama in November must be in by next weekend. Crookwell bowlers will be joining us this Saturday and Sunday so all looking forward to some great bowling. The award this week went to Di and Dick Ziebell who had put their names to bowl on list twice. I did notice that Di had given the medal to Dick!! Winners were those with highest losing margin,Tim Brown and Henry Garrard. Runners-up, Robyn Best and Ute Krook. Henry selected Rink 10 to try for Jackpot, Jo Harding did the honours but unable to come up with Joker. Breakfast trays won by Robyn Best and Tony Birmingham.

TOMAKIN LADIES
The unfurling of our Grade 3 State Pennant Flag was held on a lovely sunny bright day with a fun game of bowls and lunch held afterwards. Although times and dates had been set with the (then) President of NSWWBA, an apology was sent for her non arrival so our wonderful District President Margaret Naylor stepped in to do the honours. The pennant team were justifiably proud of their achievement as were the rest of the Tomakin Lady Bowlers. It was great to see members from our District come and join us for this very special occasion. Thank you to them.
Our Queen of the Green competition rolls on with only one rain delay. Upcoming events will include a Handicaped Pairs competition - more on that closer to the event. Come and join us for a great morning of bowls and conversation on a Tuesday.
TOMAKIN MEN
Social Triples: Thursday, October 10.
Bowlers enjoyed a sunny spring day on the green. The winners were Milka Starkovski, Graham Skidmore, and Steve Hall with a margin of plus 24. The runners up were Vince Fisher, Ted Oliver, and Ken Higgins with a plus 17.
The jackpot draw went to Ross Hardy, the winning skip on rink 10. Ross drew the ace of clubs and the jackpot was not won. Ted Oliver was having a lucky day as he also claimed the prize for the first resting toucher and won the first club voucher in the social bowls day raffle. Steve Hall also won a club voucher in the raffle.
Social Pairs: Monday, October 14.
Everyone enjoyed a glorious spring day in Tomakin today. The winners were John Zanotti and Dave McCraw with a margin of plus 32. The runners up were John Desmet and Tony Giannasca with a plus 21.
The jackpot draw went to the winning skip on rink 10. Jamie Cormie did his best to cut the deck for the joker but missed out on the prize. Once again, the kitty carries over to next week. The first resting toucher was claimed by Ken Nunan. The winners of the club vouchers in the social bowls raffle were Mark Bryant and Barrie Stone.

MALUA BAY WOMEN
Tuesday there were no bowls played with a lovely day of much needed rain. Thursday, Round 3 of Drawn Pairs was played. Janet McKay and Gay Biggs defeated Pat Biddolph and Bess Holloway. Robyn Butcher and Kim Giannasca defeated Gayl Vidgen and Yvonne Huddleston. Raija Johnston and Alison Innes defeated Pat Weekes and Sally Malone. Lisa Grice and Sonia Frey defeated Serena Short and Shirley Edwards. Judy Armstrong and Bev Feehan defeated Val Clark and Paula Hancock. Tricia Wheeler and Carol Dutkiewicz defeated Di Mooy and Tania Calder. Thanks to Umpire Sharon Cutmore and Controlling Body Fran Lucas. The day was lovely and sunny but wind direction was very changeable so you had to be aware especially when it became gusty. Semi-final will be played on Tuesday. Anne O'Dwyer and Noleen Taylor versus Lisa Grice and Sonia Frey . Robyn Butcher and Kim Giannasca versus Tricia Wheeler and Carol Dutkiewicz. Sincere condolences to Allan Matthews and Family on the death of Marilyn a very dear member of our bowling ladies.
MORUYA MEN
SOCIAL RESULTS:

The jackpot was not won and is worth $376 on Wednesday 16 October.

TUROSS HEAD MEN
The 2019 Consistency Singles has been decided. In early rounds Noel Downie defeated Lawrie Riley and Bruce Lidbury defeated Paul Douglas. In the quarter finals Peter Macdonald had to fight hard to get the better of Bruce Lidbury. Noel Downie had a good win over Stan Peck and Michael Challice defeated Mick Atkinson. Lou Kozlik received a forfeit.
In this format of the game points are awarded for the four closest bowls to the jack each end. The jack remains in the same position throughout the end. Ten points are allocated to each end with the winner the first to 150. In one semi final Noel Downie proved too classy for Lou Kozlik winning 156 to 74.
The other semi-final between Michael Challice and Peter Macdonald was a much tighter affair. Challice started well but found Macdonald hard to shake off. By the 10th end Macdonald had grabbed a slender lead and the scores were close for the next few ends. Challice then made the crucial move in the match. He dominated the next 6 ends to establish a good lead. In the end he won 152 to 118 being rewarded for playing excellent draw bowls.
The final provided to be a very tight affair between Noel Downie and Michael Challice. Despite the gulf in experience between the players there was very little in the match. After 11 ends the scores were locked at 55 all. The players traded the lead several times over the next 11 ends with Challice holding a narrow 107 to 103 lead after 22 ends. At this stage Downie seemed to gain the upper hand but Challice fought back to be just two points behind at 124 to 126 after 26 ends. Downie was then able to close out the match 150 - 130 by dominating the last three ends.
The victory ended a great Championship year for Downie that has seen him win the Major Singles, the Triples and the Fours as well as this event. He was the runner up in the Major Pairs!
Challice's effort in this match, his first ever Championship Final, indicates that he will be a real force in the future. Well done to both players.
