They risk their lives and sacrifice their home to lead the lost children, Susan, Peter and Lucy, to Aslan the Lion.
Mrs Beaver is devastated that she has to leave her beloved sewing machine behind as she packs food for the journey, remarking "I can't abide the thought of that witch fiddling with it."
What would a sewing machine be doing in a Beaver's lodge on a dam in the middle of a snowy forest?
This is the magic and mystery that will be discovered on the journey into this wonderous land, where animals can talk and trees can walk.
With just over a month until this much loved classic takes to the Bay Theatre Playhouse stage, the cast are very familiar with their characters and are bringing this story to life, now with the integral addition of lights, sound effects and music.
Sound effects and lighting design will be used to add atmosphere and different moods to various scenes and alert the audience to events that are unfolding.
Some sound effects will be created live by the use of props during the show.
The musical score will be added to enhance the story-telling by adding layers that will reinforce the themes and concepts of the play.
The Bay Theatre Players have been granted permission to use an original soundtrack of a theatrical version of The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, by Canadian film and modern media composer, Spencer Creagan.
The addition of this wonderful musical score is sure to provide a powerful and moving experience for the audience, as they are transported into the magical world of Narnia.
