Eurobodalla Shire Mayor Liz Innes says there is "definitely a need" for a sea pool in the region, after a Batemans Bay couple proposed an ocean pool near the Corrigans Reserve playground.
Members of disability lobby group Bay Push, Sue and Gary Kelly, are hoping a feasibility study will be done, leading to the construction of a sea pool at Corrigans Cove. It would complement the nearby popular all-abilities playground.
Cr Innes said a sea pool would be a "fantastic asset to the community".
Cr Innes said the council had already passed an amendment to investigate the installation of a sea pool, after a 25-metre pool was chosen over a 50-metre pool for the planned Mackay Park complex.
She said "at this point in time we've got a lot on our plate" so could not promise a speedy decision.
"We want to be a little bit cautious," she said.
Cr Innes said a netted swimming area was worth exploring and discussing in March 2018.
