MORUYA FACTORY. - During July, 19,859 gallons of milk equalling 19,842 standard gallons, were delivered at the factory. During August, 1330 cheese, weighing 18780 lbs., were shipped to Sydney. Amount paid to suppliers at the rate of 11d. per standard gallon was £909 8s 6d.
MORUYA-NOWRA FARMER. - Mr. Henry Anderson, late of Bergalia, Moruya, who some years ago purchased a goodly sized farm at Numba from the late Mr. Pritchard, has now purchased through Stewart and Morton, auctioneers, another farm containing 34 acres, at Numba, for the great price of £101 per acre. Surely there is money in good land.
MARRIAGE. - A quiet but pretty wedding was celebrated on the 30th August at St. Mary's Church, Erskineville, by the Rev. Father Kerwick, the contracting parties being Miss Evelyn Mary Keating, second eldest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Keating, of "Fair View," Mullenderree, and Mr. John Patrick McParthand, of Country Antrim, Ireland.
DEATHS. - The death of Mr. Francis Hawdon, of Wellington Street, Bondi, Late of Coila, Moruya, aged 81 years, occurred last week. Deceased, who was a son of the late Mr. John Hawdon, of Coila, and a brother of the late Ernest and William Hawdon, of this district, leaves a widow and several sons and daughters.
The Bega papers report the death of Mr. William Windsor, who many years ago worked at the Pompey Point stone quarry in connection with the Moruya breakwater, where he sustained a broken leg and other injuries which permanently crippled him for life. Subsequently the crippled man opened an hotel at the corner of Queen and Page streets, where the big Royal Hotel now stands.
DIGGERS SOCIAL AT MOGO. - The diggers who had been given a picnic on Saturday 13th inst. considered that they would also enjoy a night's entertainment so invited all their friends to a social evening in Annett's Hall. A crowded hall was the response. Songs were rendered by Captain Holmes, J. Ball and Misses B. Allabin and E. Pollock. Recitation by Sergt. Major Garner and W. Gorman and a step-dance by J. Ball.
THE SHAMROCK TEA ROOMS. - Vulcan Street has been greatly enhanced by the establishment of an attractive and up-to-date tea room and fruit and lollie shop. Mrs. J. Strahan, whose lovely exhibits of preserves of all kinds have been a special feature of South Coast Shows, as well as Sydney Royal for many years, has transformed the shop near Mr. Knight's into a miniature "Golden Gate." On Wednesday in the presence of a number of invited guests, Mrs. A. W. Constable declared the Shamrock Tea Rooms publically open, and in doing so wished the enterprising proprietress every success in her new business, and trusted that the Shamrock would flourish in Moruya as luxuriantly as it does in the Emerald Isle.
THE Peace Picnic for the Bodalla children eventuates at an early date. The present delay is caused in waiting for the medals, which are being especially made for the children. The Bodalla Co., through Mr. Hutchison, is paying all expenses.
MRS VIDER, whose death took place at Braidwood last week, was just on 90 years of age. Her descendants number 96, and embrace 12 children, 47 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Julius Vider, secretary of the Braidwood Freezing Works, and a former manager of the Buckenbowra Estate, is one of the good old lady's very highly esteemed sons.
VISITOR. - Matron Ahern, who was in charge of the local Hospital about seven years ago, is on a visit to Mr. and Mrs. G. Constable. This popular lady, who has a private Hospital at Dandenong, Victoria, with a large staff of nurses, will take Miss Mollie Constable back with her as a probationer.
Twenty 100 years ago booklets containing articles for the years 1899 to 1918 are available ($5 ea) from the Society's rooms.
