The Queensland Greens shared on Twitter: "Right now, 63-year-old teacher and farmer Will Douglas has locked onto a drill rig on Adani's rail corridor, saying immediate action is needed on the climate emergency."
The photograph shows Mr Douglas, lying tied to the machinery with a sign reading "I have no other choice".
A post on Facebook by activist group, Frontline Action on Coal, said Mr Douglas is "disrupting work on Adani's controversial Carmichael mine in the Galilee Basin".
The post continued to share a statement attributed to Mr Douglas who expressed his frustration of the Australian government in dealing with climate change.
The post said: "As a biologist and farmer, I fear the disastrous effects of climate change. As a father and teacher, holding a responsibility to young Australians, I have no other choice than to take actions like this to stop Adani's mine and keep this coal in the ground."
During the 2019 state election campaign, Mr Douglas made headlines when he was criticised for speaking at a student strike for climate change in the Moruya CBD. It was subsequently reported he had been stood down from receiving casual teaching shifts at Moruya High School.
"I'd like to see the Liberal Party tear up any new coal licenses ... scientists are telling us we have about 12 years to turn around our carbon emissions and minimise the effects of global warning," Mr Douglas said during his election campaign.
