A South Coast police officer said emergency crews were notified at about 4.10pm of the crash near the Shelley Road intersection.
He said a male driver, aged 30 years, from North Head, Moruya, was driving a white Ford Falcon ute, which sustained damage to the rear offside.
A Batehaven man aged in his early 70s was the driver of the other vehicle, a 2015 Mazda sedan.
Both vehicles deployed air bags.
Both drivers were taken to Moruya Hospital, the police spokesman said.
A NSW Ambulance spokeswoman said one person was suffering chest pain and the other shock and both were taken to hospital with minor injures.
Two highway patrol vehicles and two general duties vehicles attended the scene with other emergency crews, including Moruya Fire and Rescue.
The Moruya crew mopped up a medium-size oil spill.
The crew shortly after responded to a fire in a skip bin at Moruya Public School and extinguished the blaze.
