St Cecilia Youth Music Scholarship committee members provided the opportunity for 11 local students to perform to an audience of teachers, families, friends and local community members from the Eurobodalla region.
"The talents of these amazing music students surprise me every year," St Cecilia president Chris Heazelwood said. "Once again we had a fine line-up of performers, who will take away their experiences of performing in front of an audience."
Six of the performers chose to play piano pieces, ranging from classical to Beyoncé. Others chose instruments, from flute and clarinet, to recorder, guitar and vocals.
Budding concert pianist Thomas Whitaker chose some skilful and wonderfully contrasting pieces, and wowed the audience with some rapid fingering on piano.
Vocalist Darcy Coppin sang two delightful pieces, Turning Tables by Adele and To the Sky, a Southern Folk Song, pieces which showed her seeming ease of vocal range.
Abby May surprised the audience with her charming style as she sang her own striking composition, while accompanying herself on acoustic guitar.
"I hope all of the performers at the Pop-Up Concert will go on to apply for a Scholarship, and gain a spot at the Scholarships Concert," Mr Heazlewood said.
Music students aged 8 to 18 can apply to audition for the 2019 Scholarship. Auditions will be held on November 9-10. Those fortunate to be chosen by the adjudicators will go on to perform at the St Cecilia Youth Music Scholarships Concert, to be held on November 18, 2019.
"Winners of the Scholarships will be awarded in many ways, and in such a way that they could perhaps pay to further their music studies, or in some instances, the Scholarships could go towards paying for a new instrument," Pop-Up Concert compére and Committee Member Marion Roubos-Bennett said.
