After a tight first quarter that saw the Diggers keep the Giants goalless, Broulee/Moruya showed why they finished as minor premiers with a three-goal quarter to take an eight-point lead into half time.
Merimbula worked its way back into the contest in the third quarter, as scoring opportunities dried up for both sides, and found themselves still trailing at the end of the third.
However, two quick goals in the last had the Diggers back in front, and they survived a torrid final 10 minutes to book their place in the grand final, 6.4 (40) to 5.7 (37).
The Giants had their opportunities, but were wasteful in front of goals as they succumbed to a straight-sets exit.
Broulee/Moruya's loss continues the pattern of beaten major semi-finalists losing in the preliminary finals.
