The magazine is the brainchild of Dalmeny's Chris O'Brien who recognised a need for for a tourist guide for Narooma and its surrounds after discovering there wasn't one available for visitors at the time.
Ms O'Brien, a primary school teacher decided to canvass local businesses and soon discovered there was a need of such a publication. She approached the Narooma Area Tourist Association and along with the Narooma Chamber of Commerce they offered their support.
"The name 'Welcome to Narooma and District' was suggested and a new tourist magazine was born," Ms O'Brien said.
Ms O'Brien then approached local graphic designer Chris Westoll who agreed to work with her, designing the layout according to her plans.
"With Chris Westoll's graphic design experience and my attention to punctuation and grammar, we made a formidable team," she said.
Initially 6000 copies were produced four times a year coinciding with the school holidays and distributed locally.
"The magazine now has a print run of about 15,000 and is widely distributed throughout NSW and ACT," Ms O'Brien said.
