We had another great parkrun tourist story. Isabel and Peter Robertson from Warragul in Victoria took time out from their travels to join us. Peter was walking his first 5km since his recent triple bypass surgery and very much enjoyed our welcoming community and flat, waterfront course.
Volunteering is the bedrock of parkrun and every week we need at least seven volunteers to run a safe and well organised event. We ask that all parkrunners take a turn at volunteering every now and again to help ensure that everyone has the opportunity to participate in the event.
We find that once someone gives volunteering a go, they enjoy it so much they're keen to keep adding their name to our volunteer whiteboard. This week two of our volunteers, Bernie and Mat Lambert, were taking the opportunity to rest their legs before competing in the Huskisson Running Festival on Sunday.
Another of our newer runners, Julie Mackay, was also keen to add her name to the future volunteer roster. She will be doing the fun job of Tail Walker in September.
The volunteer jobs are easy. Clear instructions are provided and the Run Director on the day provides full briefings and support.
All runners and walkers are welcome to join us on the 5km course, including dogs.
