The annual Sun-Herald City2Surf presented by Westpac draws more than 70,000 runners to the famous 14-kilometre course from Hyde Park to Bondi Beach each year. In 2019, four of those were from Batemans Bay.
Leanne Inwards, Samantha Zimmermann, Karena Durden, and Louise Leahy all made the trip north for the August 11 event, and successfully conquered the infamous Heartbreak Hill.
Durden was the quickest among the four, finishing the course in a red-hot time of one hour, 10 minutes, and 39 seconds. She finished 244th (out of 6,708) in the women's 40-49 division, and was the 1,345th (out of 34,750) woman to cross the finish line.
Inwards was next over the line with a time of two hours, 37 minutes, and 40 seconds, while Zimmermann and Leahy both finished with a time of two hours, 52 minutes, and 46 seconds.
Harry Summers won the prestigious race with a time of 40 minutes and five seconds, while Tara Palm was the quickest female in 47 minutes and 11 seconds.
