Fifty-year-old Shane Russell Smith, currently being held on remand at Batemans Bay Police Station, did not appear in Bega Local Court on Tuesday, August 13, and did not apply for bail.

Smith's lawyer Paul Thompson told the court Smith's parents, who live locally, can offer a surety amount and put forward a proposal for a bail application.

He told the court Smith's parents will be returning from an overseas holiday sometime on August 13, and requested an adjournment.

Smith is charged with causing wounding or grievous bodily harm to a person with intent to murder, dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, driving in a dangerous manner and driving recklessly or furiously or at a dangerous speed or manner.

Court papers list Smith's address as Tubbut, Victoria, but police will allege he was a housemate of the alleged victim at Pericoe.

Police will allege that between 6pm and 6.15pm, Smith caused grievous bodily harm with the intent to murder Zac Harris.

Police will allege Smith drove a 2008 Toyota Landcruiser recklessly or furiously in a manner dangerous to the public upon Gumflat Rd, Pericoe.

They allege Smith's vehicle was involved in impact occasioning greivous bodily harm to the alleged victim.

They allege Smith at the time was driving the vehicle in a manner dangerous to other persons.

He was arrested at Bega Police Station on Thursday, August 8.

Magistrate Doug Dick adjourned the matter to Batemans Bay Local Court on August 19 for a bail application.
