The Worrigee resident had her 25 centimetre ponytail cut on Wednesday, August 7 in a bid to raise money for Hope House.

The not-for-profit Community Life Batemans Bay Inc run program provides medium-term therapeutic rehabilitation accommodation for homeless men involved with addictions, mental health issues, the justice system, domestic violence, or have otherwise been down on their luck in life.

The Worrigee resident has twice cut her hair to donate to Variety to be made into wigs, along with raising funds.

Penelope said it was a powerful interview that struck a chord with her.

"During the June long weekend I was driving to Canberra with my husband and Shirley from Hope House was being interviewed," she said.

"The work they did sounded amazing, despite absolutely no government funding and all volunteer-based apart from Shirley, who is the only paid employee, with Shirley stating they were lucky enough to obtain a $50,000 grant the previous year."

Penelope's goal is to raise $1,500 by Sunday, August 11. She's raised $390 and is welcoming all donations of any amount.

"I want to help House House to continue to make a positive impact, not only in the lives of the men whom are ready to take the next step in their healing journey, but also the local community itself that is a part of," she said.

Penelope said she's loving her new, shorter hairstyle.
