Fire and Rescue Batemans Bay and Fire and Rescue Moruya were called to the fire at approximately 10.30pm on Saturday, July 20.
When crews arrived, they found a two-unit complex well alight, and began fighting the fire in a defensive manner.
Also in attendance were crews from RFS Batemans Bay, RFS Surf Beach, NSW Police, NSW Ambulance, and Essential Energy. Fire and Rescue Narooma also covered for Moruya during the blaze.
A Fire and Rescue spokesperson said crews deployed lines to assist with defensive fire fighting until it was safe enough to enter the property and fight internally.
"Once the fire was under control, crews started to hit hot spots and used tools to pull apart the area to extinguish the fire," they said. "Asbestos was found all through the structure during this process.
"Crews completely extinguished all hot spots, and used a thermal-imaging camera to ensure no hot spots were left.
"All crews then decontaminated before bagging their gear for thorough cleaning."
The spokesperson said the site was handed to police by 1.30am.
No one was injured in the blaze.
More details as they come to hand.
