Perfect weather conditions saw 38 Moruya Women Golfers take to the fairways to play a 2 Ball BB Stableford on Wednesday, July 17. Christine Britten and Pat Cooper led the highly competitive field, taking out 1st place with an outstanding 42 points. Formidable contender's Dee Meek and Jan Young were impressive taking out 2nd place with 41 points. Jan Woolley and Judith Love together with Kym Batt and Joan Henrick excelled taking out 3rd and 4th places respectively with 40 points. NTP's went to Div.1's Margaret Douglas on the 12th and Div.2's Noelene Cowdroy on the 6th. Colette Blacklock "let it fly" achieving the longest drive in Div.1.
Tuross Head Vets
July 17: Fifty-six players registered for the day's Par event. Winner on the day was Robin Green with +4 on countback from runner-up Les Johanson on the same +4 score. They beat home Chris Wratten and Paul Green with +3s. Balls or chocolates were won by Steve Collins on +3, Margaret Downey, Barry Hoban and Gail Rogers on +2, followed by Peter Macdonald, Leonie Snodgrass and Terry Lunn on +1, and finally Dorothy Madden, Kevin Dukes, Peter McRae and Noel Fletcher all on square. Without doubt the best morning round was played by Leonie Snodgrass playing off a handicap of 4 finishing with a +1, and a 38 off the stick.This week's Bradman award went to Ted Quinlan on countback, whilst nearest the pins were won by Ian Wratten on the 4th, Ken Brown on the 6th, and Leonie Snodgrass and Ian Miller on the 7th. The Accuracy award on the 5th hole was taken out by Ross Davidson.
Tuross Head men
The Tuross Head Country Club men's golf held their Scoty stableford competition on the weekend and the winner was visitor Christopher Row with an excellent score of 41 points. On a day of high wind, which usually leads to lower scores, the reverse was the case with second placegetter Dave Bray scoring 38 stableford points ahead of Peter Nikolic also on 38 points filling third spot on a countback. John Phyland 36 points and Graeme Sindel 35 points filled the remaining award positions. Nearest the pins were won by won by A grade golfer C. Rowe on the 4th hole. Mark Haberkorn was closest on the 6th with 2.48m and John Phyland won the 7th hole with 6.25m. B grade player Peter Nikolic was best on the 4th with 4.88m and Russell Taylor won the 6th with 4.60m. Peter Dugan was closest on the 4th hole with 6.16m and Peter was also awarded the 6th hole with 3.08m.
Thursday's medley stableford golf competition was won by Steven O'Shea with 36 points. Tony Russell, also scoring 36 points, was second on a countback and Jennifer Gray 34 points, Trevor Jones 33 points received the remaining awards. Nearest the pins were won by Peter Dugan, Trevor Jones and Ian Manton.

Catalina Ladies
Wednesday, July 17, 80 ladies played at Club Catalina in an Irish Stableford Competition. First: Deborah Buchanan, Nanette Childs, Wendy Ryan and Julie Farrell 86 points. Second: Anne Lorimer, Zeneta Miniotas, Sue Charls-Hartley and Sandra Pearson. Third: Nikki Frank, Jenny Scullin, Kathy Roe and Jo Taylor.
Tennis
Eurobodalla Tennis Ladies Competition.
The Eurobodalla tennis competition was finalised last Thursday on courts at Broulee on a day of beautiful sunshine although quite windy at times but handled well by both teams. Division 1 was contested between Tomakin1 and Batemans Bay , Larks.
After 4 sets played the score was 2 sets all, with Tomakin ahead by 2 games. Larks won the next two sets so were up 4 sets to 2.Tomakin won the 7th set 6 love, they were a set behind but 3 games in front. A very exciting last set was played which could have gone either way but Larks were able to come up with the win, the final score Larks 5/37 , Tomakin 3/36. Thanks to all spectators who came along to watch some fantastic tennis.
Division 2 Grand Final was played on 4th July between Narooma Gold and Bay Breeze, the final score was Bay Breeze 6/44, Narooma 2/30 . Special thanks to Samantha Webster from Bay Waves who filled in for Breezes in both finals when they were short of a team member, also Marilyn Halpin from Moruya who came along as a Reserve for both matches, very much appreciated.
Broulee Runners
RESULTS, WEDNESDAY, JULY 17.
Ideal conditions attracted 43 starters to this evening's Broulee Run/Walk. The star of the night was Matt Johnsen, who equalled the course record for the 5 kilometres with a sensational time of 15.51. Matt set this time back on 16 April 2014.
Matt is making a serious attempt to lift his training in preparation for the Melbourne Marathon later this year. Matt represented Australia at the World University Cross Country Championships in 2012 in USA and he ran in a number of other National Championships when he represented Lamar University whilst on an athletic scholarship in the USA.
We welcomed Nate Toelleatkinson and Jayden Wong to their first run with the group.
We also welcomed back Louise Cox, having returned from her English home. She has been a regular runner with the group having registered more than 50 runs.
Personal best times in the 2 kilometres were recorded by Marcus, Benji and Neil Mackay. In the 3.5 kilometres, Matt Johnsen's dad Peter, recorded a personal best. In the 5 kilometres Sam Selinger-Morris from Sydney improved on her previous time set in January 2018.
