Bonnie Brewer, 15, and Roxy Horne, 16, played for ACT White and Blue respectively at the tournament, where they competed against teams from Queensland, Western Australia, Victoria, South Australia, and New South Wales.
The two girls have been travelling to Canberra frequently over the past month and a half, and will now aim to make the final 23-girl squad to take on the NSW CHS schoolgirls in Merrylands next month.
The two girls described themselves as "good friends", and have been playing rugby 7s together for three years.
Brewer currently plays under 18s in Canberra, and said it had helped develop her game.
"There's a lot more opportunities up there, and it's not too far away," she said. "I'm one of the youngest girls in this squad, and it's been a challenge because they're usually bigger than me."
Brewer hoped her performances in training would be enough to make the final squad.
"The coaches were saying they were really happy with how I was playing during the tournament, so I'm hoping I have a good chance," she said.
Horne only recently started playing 15-a-side rugby union.
"They're very different games, and adjusting to having less space was tough," she said. "There's much more structure, much more to think about, and it's a lot slower.
"I played in the centres, on the wing, and at fullback. I enjoyed fullback, because I got to sit off the line and watch what's happening. I also got the chance to talk a lot, which I'm pretty good at."
Horne said her selection came as a surprise.
"I wasn't expecting to get into this one because I don't have much experience (in 15-a-side rugby)," she said. 'I'm also one of the youngest girls in the squad."
