Batemans Bay RFS said just after 1pm, members received a call to a fast-moving grass fire near Moruya. First-arriving crews found a fast moving grass fire threatening properties.
Fire and Rescue Moruya, RFS Moruya, RFS Batemans Bay, RFS Broulee, RFS Malua Bay, RFS Bingie, Fire and Rescue Batemans Bay, Fire and Rescue Narooma, and Fire and Rescue Ulladulla were at the scene.
"The cause of the fire was a pile burn which was conducted a week ago," a Batemans Bay RFS spokesperson said.
"This serves as a reminder that completed pile burns can hold their heat for many, many days afterwards.
"Today showed a great display of teamwork between both services to protect property and live stock with a great outcome."
The spokesperson said crews from Batemans Bay RFS, Batemans Bay Fire and Rescue, Long Beach RFS, Durras RFS and Surf Beach RFS were called to a house fire in Long Beach.
The spokesperson said many other crews were called but stood down en route to the incident. It turned out to be a bushfire within close proximity to properties.
The spokesperson said units from the Batemans Bay RFS worked on the bushfire for a short period before handing the fire over to other units so they could return to station for a "well-deserved rest".
The spokesperson said to "remain vigilant" and pay attention when driving.
"On multiple occasions vehicles did not give way to us as we were urgently trying to get to the incident scene," the spokesperson said.
"Find a place to pull to the left safely and come to a complete stop to allow any responding emergency service past."
