Police were alerted to a suspicious package in a garden bed of a shopping centre on Orient Street shortly after 8.30am on Monday, March 4, 2019.
NSW Police said officers from South Coast Police District immediately cordoned off and evacuated the area, before specialist officers attended and rendered the item safe. The item was seized and forensically examined.
Following extensive inquiries, detectives attended a Batemans Bay home on Tuesday, July 9, and spoke with a 32-year-old man.
Police said the man was, on Wednesday, July 10, issued with a Future Court Attendance notice for the alleged offence of leaving an article with intent to cause alarm.
He is due to appear at Batemans Bay Local Court on Monday, July 22, 2019.
