The Major Singles championship final was played last Friday afternoon on a rather wet green due to the rain over a couple of days. Onlookers were expecting a tight game between Demille Lafferty and Steve Maher but this was not to be. Demille playing beautiful draw bowls soon took a commanding lead and was never really challenged. The final score was 31 shots to 10 for Lafferty. He then went on to play in the finals of the Champion of Club Champions at Bodalla on Saturday. This time he came up against an in-form Chris Pollock from Moruya and was defeated in the first game.

Second place went to Les Waldock, Peter Murton and John Spees (skip) who were down 11 to 16 after 11 ends (and after dropping a very big number on end 9) before they caught up on end 20 and picked up two shots on the last end for a 28 to 26 win over Paul Naylor, Shorty Smart and Billy Wilton (skip).
