Roads and Maritime Services on July 8 said the barge was 55 metres long and 21 metres wide and was due to arrive in the next two weeks.
"The community is advised of an additional opening of the Batemans Bay Bridge within the next two weeks as part of work on the new bridge," a Roads and Maritime Services spokeswoman said.
"The lift will be carried out during daylight hours, with the date and time subject to weather and tide conditions. The community will be advised of the exact date and time one day prior to the lift.
"The lift will enable the first barge to pass under the existing bridge in preparation for work in the river as part of the Batemans Bay Bridge replacement project.
"The lift will take up to 15 minutes and may cause delays along the Princes Highway, the Kings Highway and other local roads."
Boaters are urged to take care once the barge is positioned on the river.
"The barge is about 21 metres wide and 55 metres long and will operate from and be anchored upstream of the Batemans Bay Bridge within an exclusion zone marked by yellow buoys," RMS said.
"All vessel operators in the area should exercise caution, keep a proper lookout and comply with bouys and signs.
"Motorists and pedestrians are reminded to follow the bridge signals when crossing the bridge.
"Transport for NSW thanks the community for its patience during the bridge operation.
