Training has begun for the rugby league sevens outfit with the Yuin Nation team gearing up for the week-long competition in Port Stephens later this month.
The Police Citizen Youth Club (PCYC) event brings together Indigenous and non-Indigenous from across NSW and empowers them to celebrate Australia's diverse Aboriginal culture and its deep impact on our history and their stories.
Officials said education was critical for young people and all participants must have at least 80 per cent shool attendance to take part.
Training sessions are underway already in both Moruya and Bega with the men's team hailing from the north, while a combined Bega-Eden girls side will take part.
The Nations of Origin tournament is a great way for young people to link up and share their stories.
"Some of the players think their team can win and others want to be competitive and have lots of fun," PCYC Far South Coast club manager Peter Cross said.
Officials said sport was a powerful tool for social change and inclusion.
It teaches life skills like discipline, patience, communication and problem-solving in a team environment, and provides opportunities to build positive perspectives and futures through the community it creates.
It will also help alleviate the barriers between young people and the police putting them in a position to work and learn together.
