"Seven members from Nature Coast Dragon Boat Club, along with paddlers from various other NSW clubs, joined forces to form Dragons Downunder to compete in a three-day event in Venice on the June long weekend," she said.
The three-day event began with an opening ceremony paddling down the Venice canals.
"The following day was race day and we were triumphant, winning gold in the open and silver in the women's 200m events.
"The third day was the main event, the Vogalonga, a 30km paddle through some of the most significant locations and canals in the city, with about 2000 boats and approximately 8000 participants.
"Cries of "Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi" from the Aussie tourists along the way were very encouraging."
Nature Coast Dragon Boat Club trains on the Moruya River on Tuesday nights from 5.15pm and on Saturday morning from 8.15am and new paddlers are always welcome. Meet at the boat ramp near the pool.
