Experts will give advice about dog and cat care, a coffee and cake stall will be held, RSPCA merchandise for sale, and desexing discount vouchers available for pets who are not desexed.
The council said microchipping was a requirement by 12 weeks of age under NSW law. Registering pets with the council was required by six months of age and the cost was greatly reduced for desexed animals.
The council said they would be able to return pets home much quicker, prior to impounding, if more pets were microchipped.
