Plaza manager Mark Anderson said the walls were up and the roof was on the new Woolworths building, due to open by Christmas.

"Woolies will be ready to jump into there in September and complete the components of the fit-out," Mr Anderson said.

"Stage two focuses on the Woolworths building, then stage three will focus on Aldi."

The Plaza Cellars bottle shop will relocate next to Aldi, which is scheduled to open in August 2020.

Rankin Builders began work on the project in late 2018.

The estimated $16 million overhaul will include another car park.

"Currently there are 120 spaces and the second tier car park will have 246," Mr Anderson said.

Traffic lights are being installed at the intersection of Willcocks Ave and the Princes Highway.

Mr Anderson said the Eurobodalla Shire Council recently placed a stop-work order on the traffic lights, which had been initially approved by the council and Roads and Maritime Services.

"The traffic lights will be opening soon; we just hope to satisfy council who have placed a stop-work order," he said.

Narooma News has requested further information from the council.

Mr Anderson said a meeting with council representatives was due this week to resolve the issue.

Narooma Woolworths manager Hamish Payne looks forward to the opening of the new store, which will have double the floor space of the existing shop.

Woolworths is also installing 759 solar panels to produce 217 kilowatts of power.

Mr Payne said the store would provide an extra 50 jobs, a bakery and two electric vehicle charging points.

"The new store will have somewhere between 30-32,000 products, which is a better range than Moruya and Bermagui," Mr Payne said.

Mr Payne said 20 to 25 checkouts will operate at Christmas.

"There will be a lot more manned belt checkout lanes, which will help at peak trading times," he said.

"The store will handle Christmas time a lot better."
