Wehner finished third in the over 35s men's competition, and fourth in the over 40s men's competition.
Paul Snow (Newcastle) was able to claim the title in the over 35 men's division. Snow played a patient game in the final, only catching two-waves, but posting an excellent 8.33 wave score as well as a 5.5 to give him the upper hand against his opposition and the win ahead of runner-up Mick O'Rafferty (Cabarita) by a 0.66 margin.
2018 Australian Champion Jay Phillips (Fingal) returned to Boomerang Beach with the attempt of adding a NSW title to his already stellar list of accomplishments. Phillips put on an electric performance in the over 40s men's final, posting two excellent scores - 8.4 and an 8.07 - to amass a solid 16.47 two-wave heat total. Phillips will now get the chance to defend his 2018 title when the 2019 SAE Group Australian Surf Championships returns to the Tweed region in August.
1988 Pipeline Masters Champion and perennial standout in Australian Indigenous Titles, Robbie Page (Kempsey) hit the over 50s men's division with his trademark flair and flow. The widely respected goofy-footer found a handful of playful lefts in the wave-starved final to post an impressive 14.53 two-wave total and take the victory. Page dedicated his victory to 2000 World Champion Sunny Garcia who was recently hospitalised in Portland, Oregon
The prominent four-day event saw more than 150 competitors - aged 35 and above - battle it out in an attempt to secure an NSW shortboard title and a spot in the national titles at the 2019 SAE Group Australian Surf Championships in Tweed Heads.
