Happy birthday last Sunday to gorgeous Julie DeBrassac from the Bay. I hope you had a great day Julie, you deserve it!
What is happening with the escalator in The Village Centre? After so many folk asking me to find out, I phoned the management centre but have not had a call back. If someone knows, please contact me so that I can let everyone else know. I know that the grocery carts are starting relationships when they are abandoned at the bottom of the escalator because they seem to be breeding and doubling in numbers!
Wow, what a great afternoon put on by Moruya TAFE. High tea at the TAFE Mantle Restaurant was very well attended, sold out in fact! Two guest speakers for River of Art kept the audience entertained as they made their way through dainty quiche, poppy seed muffins, cupcakes and lots of other goodies. Some of the gorgeous women who attended, complete with pearls, Zelma Rixon, Loretta Copping, Louise Leahy, Helen Westman and Betty Rixon and Cheryl Fenton. Congratulations to the two Debs for a great job!
Those gadabouts Nick and Carolyn Harding enjoyed catching up with old friends and new at the Gundog Cork Street Cellar at Gundaroo last weekend. A bit of wine tasting added to the enjoyment of Sunday!
Tilba community stalwart Janine Halasz was named the 2019 Eurobodalla Local Hero at the annual awards at the Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Garden on Thursday May 5. In the nomination submitted for Mrs Halasz, she was described as an enthusiastic fund-raiser, a driving force in the Tilba CWA, a dedicated member of the Central Tilba School of Arts Trust, and the founding member of a knitting group that produced not only items for charity, but lasting friendships. Eurobodalla Mayor Liz Innes presented the award and paid tribute to all 31 Local Hero nominees. Finalists in the award were Bernard Basevi, who was heavily involved in the development of Muddy Puddles in Batemans Bay and a volunteer for St Bernard's Catholic Church, , and Carolyn Harding, who has campaigned for years for a Batemans Bay indoor aquatic centre and volunteered for Carroll College canteen and the Batemans Bay Basketball Association.
