The four-lane bridge will replace the iconic lifting bridge built more than 50 years ago.
Work began last month for the $274 million project.
A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said: "Between April and June, major work will include piling and building piers to form the foundation of the new bridge, completing a temporary boat ramp at Korners Park and construction jetty south-west of the existing bridge, and ongoing removal of vegetation and trees in the project area."
