3.20pm: Rescue crews report a tragic end to the search for the missing man. Lifesaver 23 reported he was found floating unconscious and not breathing. Batemans Bay Surf Life Savers and paramedics were also at the scene. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful. NSW Ambulance received the call at 2.45pm and arrived at 3.15pm.

3.05pm: Lifesaver 23 reports it has winched aboard a man found floating in the water at Sunshine Bay. He was taken to the beach where CPR has been commenced.
2.46pm: Spokesman for Lifesaver 23 Westpac rescue helicopter, Stephen Leahy, said crews are unsure whether the person is a skin diver or scuba diver.
"They were last seen at Denhams Beach in the vicinity of the caravan park," he said. "Police are continuing their inquiries, but this person hasn't been seen for some time.
"We've now arrived on scene, and Surf Lifesaving are on the way and should be there shortly as well."
2.34pm: Emergency crews have been sent to Denhams Beach, south of Batemans Bay, to search for a diver reported missing on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 22.
The Moruya-based Lifesaver 23 Westpac rescue helicopter has been sent to the scene to help in the search.
The helicopter crew was asked to assist shortly before 2.30pm.
Batemans Bay Surf Life Saving Club volunteers are also attending after being alerted to a scuba diver going missing.
