Celeste Haworth, one of Australia's most charming mezzo-sopranos, acclaimed for her extensive vocal range and warm stage presence, will perform an afternoon of opera favourites as part of the River of Art Festival.

She will sing arias and songs by composers from Handel and Mozart, to Brahms, Rossini, Verdi, and Bizet at 3pm, Sunday, May 26 at St Bernard's Catholic Church, Batehaven.
The afternoon will include some of Opera's most well-known and spirited heroines, from Dorabella in Mozart's Cosi van Tutte, Rosina in Rossini's The Barber of Seville, to the crowd favourite Carmen.
"There is something in singing opera that contains a little piece of your soul, a small part that you share with the audience through the character you play," Ms Haworth said.
Celeste will be accompanied by well-known accompanist David Miller from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
Celeste and David will also talk to the audience about the music, the characters, about performing and working together as singer and accompanist, making this an entertaining and informative performance.
St Bernard's Catholic Church in Batehaven is perfect for acoustic performances, and the views over sparkling Batemans Bay make concerts at this venue very special.
The event will be presented by the South Coast Music Society. Tickets cost $35 for adults, $30 for concession, and free for students. Tickets can be purchased at www.southcoastmusicsociety.com or at the door.

Celeste Haworth
Celeste is originally from Sydney and trained at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Celeste won the 2015 German Australia Opera Grant, studying and performing to acclaim in Germany, Austria and Singapore.
Celeste has returned to Australia to sing for Opera Australia. Celeste's upcoming performances include singing arias and duets throughout 2019 at the Sydney Opera House for Opera Australia's Great Opera Hits Concert Series, and performing recitals throughout N.S.W. Celeste is also a broadcaster for Fine Music 102.5, with the flagship program Fine Music Drive.
David Miller
David Miller is Chair of the Piano Accompaniment Unit, at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. He is widely recognised as one of Australia's leading pianists, chamber musicians and vocal accompanists. He is also highly regarded as a mentor for young ensemble pianists and repetiteurs. He has been appointed as a member of the Order of Australia for his service to music.
