Now is that the three witches of Macbeth's very first scene or is that the three fantastic gentleman who have spent the initial week of production wielding saw, drill and hammer?

In fact "When the hurlyburly's done" - the set work will have been done.

"Where's the place?" - upon the stage - there you will meet Eric Haslam, Jon Benn and Geoff Philpott who in just three days have built three-quarters of the set needed for Macbeth's actors to begin the storytelling.

It has taken a lot of hard work and the set has now grown and the stage is no longer bare.

Directors Sam Lloyd and Jack Helmore agreed that the success of the first rehearsal was due to the advanced state of the stage which has allowed the actors to move around the set and have a sense of the available physical space and the scope for movement.

The three witches were able to envision their heath and cavern environment during rehearsal and could embrace their roles with gusto.

"I cannot express fully how delighted I am to see the set design come alive so quickly," director Sam Lloyd said.

"All credit to the set builders and their desire to help create the theatre magic, which is a part of the Bay Theatre Players ethos of working together."

The production team, cast and crew look forward to the completion of the set and its evolution as painting begins in the weeks to come.

Macbeth which will be onstage July/August 2019.

Last week Mrs Gwen Wray passed away.

She was a Batemans Bay and Theatre icon who was a musician extraordinaire and Bay Theatre Players Life Member.

She played an integral part in musicals over decades and helped to create the rich history of the group.

Her credits are numerous, her wit legendary, and her dedication and sharing will be sorely missed.
