At around 12.50pm, Thursday, April 11, Narooma and Tuross RFS crews attended the scene.
Tuross RFS member Peter Cole said long grass had caught fire during a burn off.
"Even though the ground was damp underneath, the dry grass on top had caught fire," he said.
Mr Cole said the grass fire spread an acre and was quickly extinguished by crews. He advised the public to contact Moruya Fire Control for any future burn-off activities.
"It is important to let fire control know, they can organise a truck to come out and help monitor the burn so it doesn't get out of control," Mr Cole said.
