A penalty goal after the final siren was enough for the Boars to record their first win over Crookwell in the club's history.
Boars' coach Matt Ryan said he "couldn't be happier" with the way his side played under adversity.
"We had a few blokes who had to pull out for different reasons in the days before the match," he said. "Having said that, we were still confident in the team we took out there. I was a little worried a young, enthusiastic Crookwell would put points on us towards the end of the game, but we came home a lot stronger than them.
"It was a nail biter, and hopefully we don't have to win like that too often, but a win's a win. It was great to get a win on the road against a team we'd never beaten before."
Ryan said the conditions prevented his side from securing a much more comfortable win.
"At one stage it was sleeting sideways, so just horrible conditions," he said. "We bombed at least five tries as well. We created good opportunities, but the last pass was going to ground.
"The amount of tries we left out there was actually really pleasing to me, but it's the 31 against that we need to improve on."
The Boars will play their first home game next week against Jindabyne, and Ryan is quietly confident going into the match.
"We won't get ahead of ourselves, because there's not a week where you can rest on your laurels, but we're comfortable with the guys coming back in to the team," he said.
"We'll be a lot stronger with our depth, we'll be able to utilise the bench more, and it's a long trip for Jindabyne.
"They always tend to come here all guns blazing, so we're expecting a tough game."
