New forms of the game have spurred a renewed interest in the game, and that has seen participation rise, particularly for the juniors.
The council's recreation coordinator, Matt Neason, said the shire's clubs and schools were at the heart of the strategy, which focuses on participation, facilities, and developing players.
"Monday night was an opportunity to bring key players together," he said. "We had three representatives from Cricket NSW meet with our stakeholders, which included the Batemans Bay, Tuross Head, and Southern Eurobodalla cricket clubs.
"There's a lot of good work being done in the shire in the space of cricket, but it's currently being done independently.
"Cricket NSW delivers clinics and run school cups, and the clubs have their own activities, so this is a good opportunity to bring all that work together, link with the schools, and offer a coordinated approach."
Mr Neason said new forms of the game had led to a resurgence of interest in cricket on national and international fields.
"The Big Bash League and Women's Big Bash League have a strong following," he said.
"This is flowing down to club-level sport, with Friday-night 'cricket blast' competitions and women's-social events on the increase across the shire.
"With that increased participation, it gives us better opportunities to seek grants for infrastructure."
Mr Neason said sports in general had had a tough time over the past few years, but things are looking up in the Eurobodalla Shire.
"It's become clear to me that a lot of clubs are hurting, particularly with their junior development," he said. "Having said that, the feedback we've received from the footy codes this year is really positive.
"Tennis is another sport that's seen a resurgence lately, and that's really good. If we can work with the committees that deliver sport across the shire, help them build their capacity, and help them package their sport for the modern world, we've done our job."
