Undaunted by the travel to the most distant ground in the competition, the Batemans Bay side put on a worthy performance which reflected their great improvement and the experience gained over season.
Batting first after winning the toss, the Bay were in early trouble and found themselves at 4 down for 14 runs.
Stand-in skipper and elder statesman Chad Salmon steadied the ship with a solid innings and was aided in partnerships with Mark Tuckwell, Luke Gallen and Grace Blackmore. They were all out for 104 with Salmon remaining not out on 70.
Bomaderry lost two early wickets but the young Bay bowling attack were unable to make much further progress on day onem with the stumps score 3 for 94. Best for Bomaderry were Paterson and Ingram, and they were backed up on the second day by Miribato who top-sccored with 55. Bay skipper Salmon rotated all his young bowlers in attempting to get wickets, but the more experienced Bomaderry batsmen gained the first innings lead and reached a total of 176. They had scored quickly enough to leave time and opportunity of an outright result and the Bay batted for a second time.
Opener Mark Tuckwell backed up with a well compiled 25 and put on an 83-run partnership with Tyler Frawley, who topscored with 45.
Skipper Salmon added 28 but the tail fell away losing 5 wickets for 16.
However the second innings total of 159, scored in quick time, left the Bay with a lead of 87 and a sniff of a chance of a come-from-behind outright victory.
They started well with two wearly wickets but the experienced pair of Ingram and Miribato saw Bomaderry home reaching the required 88 runs for the loss of 4 wickets.
The stand-in skipper rued the unavoidable absence of team captain Brett Woolridge, but was proud of the effort and commitment of the young side in this match in particular, praising their will to fight to the end "against the odds".
