The Boars will travel to Crookwell for their opening match, while the Dolphins host Yass at Captain Oldrey Park.
The Bay Post/Moruya Examiner spoke with Boars' head coach Matt Ryan and Dolphins' senior president Ian Filmer prior to their first games.
What are your realistic expectations for this season?
Ryan: On paper, we've got a team that we feel will push to the end of the competition. The realistic goals are the small goals at this stage: Get a few wins on the road, and get a settled match-day 22.
We'll also aim to get some consistency both at home and on the road. We'll worry about long-term goals as the year progresses.
Filmer: We just want to be competitive for the whole season, that's the big one for us after having a couple of years away from the competition.
If your team was to win the premiership this year, what would it be on the back on?
Ryan: Success on the road, which let us down a little bit last year. We got off to a really good start, but then faded away with some poor numbers on the road. That's what a premiership will be built on for us.
Filmer: It'll be the hard work we've been doing with our junior program over the past eight-to-10 years. We've got the largest junior club on the coast, and a lot of those kids are now playing seniors.
Which player should fans look out for this season?
Ryan: It's a hard one to single out, because there's a few guys who have really impressed me at training, but it's probably Ash Kenny returning to the club.
He's been playing with Bungendore for a couple of years, and he's been part of the Brumbies provincial team as well. He'll not only bring experience this year, but also a hard edge to the team.
Filmer: Robbie Hogg. Robbie's been part of our program since he was five years old. He's played Australian schoolboys, and he played in the grand final of the premier division in Canberra for Royals last season.
He'll play either fly half or inside centre for us this season, and we're really excited to have him on board.
What game are you looking forward to the most this season?
Ryan: The Dolphins in round three. It's exciting to come up against our local rivals again on the field this season.
There are other key clashes we've got our eyes on, but we'll worry about them later in the season.
Filmer: Any of our games with Batemans Bay. It's a great rivalry, it's always a good match, and it should provide spectators with plenty of flare and spark.
Why should South Coast rugby fans follow your club this season?
Boars: I don't think there's a single reason, and the 50/50 supporters will sway to whichever club they prefer.
If you've been supporting us for all these years, get on down and keep supporting us, especially against the local rivals.
Filmer: We've got the largest club base from juniors through to seniors. We've got five or six programs in the club which cater from four-year-olds all the way through to Golden Oldies.
We look after both the girls and the boys, and we feel like we're a good all-around club.
