Conditions are looking favourable for the 8th annual Hotondo Homes Broulee Bay to Breakers Ocean Swim. The swim kicks off at 9am on Sunday 10 March.
“It’s a beautiful swim and a terrific community event,” said swim coordinator Gary Pettigrove.
“The 1.4km course goes from Broulee Island and around the headland to south Broulee Beach," he said.
"We expect around 350 competitors in the 18 senior and open categories. We also have a shorter 500m swim for junior entrants."
Broulee’s Wendy Dunn, 79 years young, is competing for the 8th time.
“I expect to finish," she said confidently, “and in any case, the tail end of the field is always looked after very well - we’re not bait fish by any means."
The best thing is the fun and shared satisfaction of swimming

Prizes include $300 cash for open winners and $100 for the fastest in the senior categories. According to Pettigrove, the best thing about the event is the fun and satisfaction.
“The best thing is just the fun and the shared satisfaction of swimming in a particularly pretty bit of ocean with a nice mob of people,” he said.
Registration fees for the swim are shared by the Broulee Surfers Surf Life Saving Club and the Broulee Mossy Point Community Association.
Entries are open now with details available on the Hotondo Homes Broulee Bay to Breakers Ocean Swim website.
