An afternoon of traditional jazz with a sprinkling of sublime world music is in store for this month’s concert that runs from 12.20 to 3.30pm.
The afternoon features three bands including the Sarabande Jazz Quartet, Jazz Alley Quartet and The Manderines.
Sarabande Jazz Quartet plays a smooth blend of songs and melodies from world’s best jazz repertoire and original works across Latin swing and pop, featuring Sarah Leaver, Paul Baker, Stafford Ray and Gillian Young on percussion.
Jazz Alley Quartet delivers a toe tapping and driving sound from the early years of hot jazz, with Bev Banjo Long on banjo, vocals, Bob Porter on clarinet, saxophone, vocals, John Roche, drums and Stewie String Bass on tea chest bass.
The Mandarines with complex, lilting harmonies, this trio transports you from the every day urban to the acoustic sublime, presenting lullabies and love songs from the Georgian, Armenian, Croation and Macedonian traditions – a world music basket of treats!.
