The flat, waterfront course is always a winner with both visitors and locals.
One visitor this was was Tom Lawrence from Perth. Tom is travelling solo around the country and has discovered parkrun as a way of meeting people and enjoying local community connections.
As well as Batemans Bay, Tom has completed parkruns in Port Lincoln, Mount Gambier, Melbourne and Wangaratta.
He not only enjoyed a Saturday parkrun, but by making contact with some of our friendly parkrun regulars also scored a coffee, lunch and dinner invitation as well as some company on another Sunday run.
There were also a number of runners and walkers visiting from Cowra. Caroline Booth is a run director at Cowra parkrun.
Her mother is celebrating her 60th birthday with a Batemans Bay holiday and Caroline decided to bring the family along to parkrun for some Saturday morning fun.
While it's always great to meet interesting visitors, it is the regular locals who keep parkrun sustainable by turning up most weeks to walk or run and, even more importantly, by frequently volunteering. Thanks to this week’s volunteers Tim Cowley, Lauren Evans, Mark Evans, Annie Johnsen, Matt Johnsen, Peter Johnsen, Bede Webster and Kim Young.
Congratulations to those who achieved personal best times this week: Barry King, Roslyn McClelland, Robert Ryan, Lisa Robbins, Kristy Raams and Lynne Somerville.
All runners and walkers are welcome to join the 5km course, including dogs. Only one dog per person please and they should be well behaved and on a short lead.
Parkrun meets every Saturday morning at 7.50am for an 8am start and everyone is welcome, no matter your level of ability or fitness.
You can register online at www.parkrun.com.au to obtain a barcode which you must print and bring along with you every week to get a recorded result and monitor your progress.
The venue is Rotary Park near the Marina roundabout, Rotary Drive, Batemans Bay.
