There was an amazing turnout at the information session for the Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe held on Saturday, February 9. With more than 40 children, together with adults and family members showing interest in this production, it will be an exciting show for the Bay Theatre Players.
The next stage for this enthusiastic group are the auditions which will be held on Saturday, February 23, with a morning and an afternoon audition session at the CWA Hall in Batehaven. Those interested in booking into one of these sessions are required to contact director Belinda Quick on 0448 830 011 to book a time slot. This production will be onstage Nov/Dec 2019.
The CAT (Canberra Area Theatre) Awards for 2018 productions will be held at the Llewellyn Hall, Canberra, on Saturday, February 23.
The CAT awards recognise the contribution made by non-professional groups to the artistic life of Australia and in particular to Canberra and the region, and they encourage individuals in the performing arts.
The Bay Theatre Players received nominations in December 2018 for Best Production of a Play - Talking Heads - July 2018, Best Actress in a Leading Role in a Play - two nominees - Candy Burgess for her role as Irene in A Lady of Letters in Talking Heads and Narell Murdoch for her role as Susan in Bed Among the Lentils in Talking Heads, Best Set for a Play - Sam Lloyd (design), Eric Haslem and Geoff Philpott (construction) and Nikki Bath (scenic design) - A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Best Lighting - Martyn Lloyd - A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Several nominees from the Bay Players will be attending the CAT Awards and we wish all nominees the best of luck and an enjoyable evening.

Groups of 20 or more receive a discount on ticket prices. The Box Office will be open at the theatre on Saturdays from March 2 from 10am to 12 noon. There are only eight shows.
