Presently, students travel to TAFE campuses at Ulladulla and Moruya.
Bega MP and Infrastructure Minister Andrew Constance and announced the plan at Hanging Rock on Wednesday, February 13 with Assistant Skills Minister Adam Marshall.
“Batemans Bay has never had a fully-fledged TAFE campus of its own, meaning locals have either had to travel to Moruya, Ulladulla or even further afield to complete their studies," Mr Constance said.
He promised to "construct a multi-million dollar new TAFE campus right here, offering locals a broad array of study options".
“We’ve got a thriving economy and a growing population so it just makes sense that we would build a new TAFE to offer more locals the opportunity to complete their studies and get a job.
“It’s going to complement our thriving TAFE campus in Moruya and provide teachers and students stronger opportunities to work and study.”
Mr Marshall said students could study online via "TAFE’s state-wide network of campuses and courses".
“The new campus will be equipped with the best in technology, meaning locals will be able to access a far broader range of courses than what would normally be available," he said.
“Country people deserve the same quality access to TAFE as their peers in the city."
