Gary Godwin recently celebrated his 70th birthday with a big surprise party at the Queanbeyan Golf Club. Gary almost had to have his arm twisted to go up there for the day, but all ended up well, with a big celebration lunch with his wife Marilyn, two children, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren in attendance. Congratulations, Gary.
Dianne Coward, of Tomakin has got a big week ahead. Eleven friends from as far as Brisbane, Melbourne, Canberra and even Holland are converging on the Bay this week for lots of bushwalking.
Knowing when to walk away is wisdom. Being able to is courage. Walking away with your held high is dignity.
The ladies all met at uni many years ago and met up again recently. They now have regular holidays together to bushwalk. Their one rule is "no husbands and no kids" to go with them. Have fun with the girls, Di, and I hope the weather is good for you.
Noreen Bain of Catalina is resting at home after surgery and an overnight stay in hospital. Noreen asked me to pass on her thanks to the marvellous staff at Moruya hospital who looked after her really well.

If you have ever thought of starting to record your life story, here's something for you. Next Tuesday, February 19, civil celebrant Sonia Collins is holding a free "Tell me your story" session at the Hanging Rock Function Centre from 10am-2.30pm, with refreshments and a light lunch provided. It is designed to encourage older people to record some of their life history as a permanent record for children and grandchildren. It is also very helpful when it comes to information to prepare for funerals and writing eulogies. Contact Sonia on 0434 699 415.
