The play tells the story of three lost children who stumble across an abandoned orphanage in the bush. They become trapped in a timeless world, haunted by spirits from the past.
They are tormented, too, by the Black Skirt, a cruel governess who floats up and down the orphanage corridors wielding enormous scissors.
But as the stories of these forgotten children are told - from pickpocketing incidents in the 18th century to the tragedies of the Stolen Generation in the 20th - their spirits are released, one by one. (Currency Press - Australian Plays .org)
Lyn Sterling will host the evening and everyone is welcome. Supper is provided.
Meantime, with blocking nearly complete, the cast of DAGS are now at the crucial half way mark in their rehearsal schedule. This can be a very daunting period as so much energy is expended by the cast on “where should I be?” and “what are my lines?”
Having reached this point, Director Di Minihan says it is now her responsibility to guide each cast member through the challenge of building further layers to their character which can make for more exciting theatre. There are promising signs that the young and enthusiastic cast are up for that challenge.
Tickets for DAGS are now available on line at www.baytheatreplayers.org.au. Groups of 20 or more receive a discount on ticket prices. If you prefer to purchase tickets in person, the Box Office will be open at the theatre on Saturdays from March 2, from 10am to 12 noon. There are only eight shows so book your tickets now.
Auditions for the The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe will be held on Saturday, February 23, at the CWA Hall, Edward Road, Batehaven.
There will be morning and afternoon audition sessions and bookings are essential. If you were unable to attend the information session on February 9 you are still able to book into one of the audition sessions. Please contact director Belinda Quick on 0448 830 011 to secure your time slot.
