The flats are still producing good fish in the river this week with whiting and flathead being the stand outs. Early morning seems to be the more productive time of the day, so set those alarms and get out early.
Top water is still the choice for most anglers this week as the high temps really seem to get the fish up on the surface.
Soft plastics are the go for flathead this week as they seem to be a little quieter, but are still willing to feed on a good soft plastic presentation.
Tuross River
The Tuross River has seen good catches of whiting and flathead throughout the system.
All reports point towards the flats around the four ways, with multiple catches of both flathead and whiting.
Bait has proven to be the pick this week for anglers in Tuross, with sand worms and white bait being the stand outs.
Good size nippers are being pumped just at the boat ramp in Tuross, so get your pump and get down there and get in among the action, as the odd good bream is showing up on these healthy nippers.
Beaches/Rocks
Whiting are still patrolling the beaches this week, and it looks like they’re looking for sand worms and prawns.
Salmon have been patchy this week and are hanging out behind the breakers, so up your weight and flick that little further and you should be rewarded with a good catch of salmon.
The stones around Congo have been the place to be with nice size squid hanging around. The kings have been just out of reach this week with good size schools being seen chasing bait just outside of casting distance.
Offshore
Still lots of flathead out in around 32-metre rangel,,with most boats bagging out quickly using squid or salted pilchards.
The snapper have gone quiet, but a few guys putting in the hours are finding them still and the word is downsize your baits.
The trusty all snapper flasher rig with small strips of bait are showing the best results with one fish coming in at a healthy seven kilograms.
Not many reports at all on the blue water out wide so all I can say is do the miles and you might get the smiles.
