Head of Operation for Essential Energy, Sarah Roche, said crews were kept busy well in to the night responding to a number of incidents, including trees falling on to powerlines, broken wires, and damaged network equipment.
“About 1900 customers in Surf Beach, Lilli Pilli, and Sunshine Bay were affected by the power outage, and other outages affected customers in Durras North, South Durras, Maloneys Beach, Long Beach, Surfside, and areas around Moruya,” she said.
“Supply was progressively restored to most houses by 9pm, however, 111 houses in Surf Beach remained without supply until a generator could be connected at 3am.”
A small number of houses remained without supply overnight, and crews attended a further eight incidents on Saturday morning.
“We anticipate power to be restored to all premises today if no further issues are experienced,” Ms Roche said. “Residents are reminded to report any fallen powerlines, network damage, fires, or trees contacting powerlines to Essential Energy on 132 080, or call 000 if the situation is life threatening.”
