Police have urged the community not to be alarmed following a police operation to track down an alleged offender near Coila on Wednesday afternoon.

A South Coast Police District spokesperson said officers were involved in an operation at Bingie Point on February 6.
Police said investigators were looking for an offender in relation to an alleged stolen motor vehicle and alleged driving and property offences.
The investigation continued into the evening and is ongoing.
Police thanked the community for their assistance in the matter and have advised there are no immediate risks to residents.

One elderly neighbour told the Bay Post they feared the heavily-wooded terrain would hamper the search.
