But there were still 82 happy runners and walkers ready to complete the 5km course. Cooler, overcast conditions also made the 5km effort a little easier this week and quite a few managed personal best times.
Congratulations to Mat Lambert, Joanne Flood, Ren Lefevre, Geoff Wells, Craig Shepheard, Naomi Blunden, Alan Fitches, Julie Mackay, Sara Black, Karen Sutherland and Gwen Haynes.
The volunteer roster was again filled by a local group so it’s thanks to Batemans Bay BMX club who demonstrated their all-round dedication to the local sporting community by taking time out from their busy BMX duties to help run another successful Parkrun.
The event welcomes any sporting group who would like to help out or do a bit of cross training with a run or walk. Volunteers always have a good time and some even think it’s more fun than running.
All runners and walkers are welcome to join in on the 5km course, including dogs. Participants meet every Saturday morning at 7.50 am for the 8am start at Rotary Park near the Marina, Batemans Bay. You can register online at www.parkrun.com.au to obtain a barcode which you must print and bring along with you each week.
