A police spokesman said a neighbour reported the incident.

“They saw her on the street in distress, and called at 11.35am,” he said.

He said police, Fire and Rescue and ambulance crews attended the scene at Karoola Crescent.

He said the neighbour reported that the girl had been burnt, however, she was only treated for smoke inhalation by the ambulance, and not taken to hospital, a NSW Ambulance spokesperson said.

The police spokesman said Fire and Rescue and police entered the home, but did not find an active fire.

“It appears a small fire started and was extinguished by the girl,” the police spokesman said.

He said the fire may have been started by an electrical item.
